CHAP. 328.— An Act To amend section 1 of the Act entitled “An Act to provide for stock-raising homesteads, and for other purposes,” approved December 29, 1916. February 28, 1931.[[H. R. 3820](/us/bill/71/hr/3820).][[Public, No. 747](/us/pl/71/747).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Public lands.Stock raising homestead entries.Vol. 39, p. 862; Vol. 41, p. 287.[U. S. C., p. 1348](/us/usc/1348). That section 1 of the Act entitled “An Act to provide for stock-raising homesteads, and for other purposes,” approved December 29, 1916, is hereby amended to read as follows:
" Extent of, allowed.“That from and after the passage of this Act it shall be lawful for any person qualified to make entry under the homestead laws of the United States to make a stock-raising homestead entry for not *Proviso.*Prior designation required.exceeding six hundred and forty acres of unappropriated, unreserved public lands in reasonably compact form: *Provided, however*, That the land so entered shall theretofore have been designated by the Secretary of the Interior as ‘ stock-raising lands ’: *Provided further*, Reservation of mineral rights.That for the purposes of this Act lands withdrawn or reserved solely as valuable for oil or gas, shall not be deemed to be appropriated or reserved unless such lands shall be within the limits of the geologic structure of a producing oil or gas field, and any patent therefor shall contain a reservation to the United States or all minerals in said lands, and the right to prospect for, mine, and remove the same: *And provided further*, That the Naval petroleum, etc., reserves.provisions of this Act shall not apply to naval petroleum reserves and naval oil-shale reserves.
