CHAP. 256.— An Act To authorize the Public Health Service to provide medical service in the Federal prisons. May 13, 1930.[[H. R. 9235](/us/bill/71/hr/9235).][[Public, No. 203](/us/pl/71/203).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That hereafter,Public Health Service.Details from, for medical service in Federal prisons.*Post*, p. 881. authorized medical relief under the Department of Justice in Federal penal and correctional institutions shall be supervised and furnished by personnel of the Public Health Service, and upon request of the Attorney General, the Secretary of the Treasury shall detail regular and reserve commissioned officers of the Public Health Service, Pharmacists, acting assistant surgeons, and other employees of the ’ublic Health Service to the Department of Justice for the purpose of supervising and furnishing medical, psychiatric, and other technical and scientific services to the Federal penal and correctional institutions.
Sec. 2. The compensation, allowances, and expenses of the personnelCompensation of detailed personnel. so detailed may be paid from applicable appropriations of the Public Health Service in accordance with the law and regulations governing the personnel of the Public Health Service, such appropriations to be reimbursed from applicable appropriations of theReimbursement. Department of Justice; or the Attorney General is hereby authorized to make allotments of funds and transfer of credit to the Public Health Service in such amounts as are available and necessary, which funds shall be available for payment of compensation, allowances, and expenses of personnel so detailed, in accordance with the law and regulations governing the personnel of the Public Health Service.
