CHAP. 115.— An Act To provide for the recording of the Indian sign language through the instrumentality of Major General Hugh L. Scott, retired, and for other purposes. April 8, 1930.[[H. R. 4604](/us/bill/71/hr/4604).][[Public, No. 97](/us/pl/71/97).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That there isIndian sign language.Sum authorized for making a permanent record of.*Post*, p. 875. hereby authorized to be appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury of the United States not otherwise appropriated, the sum of $5,000, or as much thereof as may be necessary, to be expended in the discretion of the Secretary of the Interior in making a permanent record of the sign language of the American Indians by whatever means may to him seem advisable, and to meet the expense of recording by motion and sound pictures through the instrumentality of Major General Hugh L.
Scott, retired, and such Indians as may be required to assist him, the theory, history, and practice of the said sign language. Approved, April 8, 1930.
