February 15, 1929.[[H. R. 10015](/us/bill/70/hr/10015).][[Private, No. 359](/us/bill/70/pvtl/359).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the SecretaryHerschel Paul Cook may be appointed lieutenant, junior grade, Navy, retired. of the Navy be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to promote as of June 3, 1922, to the rank of lieutenant (retired), Herschel Paul Cook, now lieutenant, junior grade (retired), without any deduction for pay made such officer while on the active list subsequent to that date.
That hereafter the pay of this officer whileComputation of retired pay. on the retired list shall be computed as if he had been retired in 2256*Proviso*.No back pay, etc.the rank of lieutenant, senior grade, June 3, 1922: *Provided*, That no back pay or allowances shall accrue prior to the passage of this Act.
