CHAP. 818.— An Act For the relief of Agnes De Jardins. July 3, 1926.[[H. R. 1692](/us/bill/69/hr/1692).][[Private, No. 247](/us/pvtl/69/247).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,Agnes De JardinsPayment to, for personal injuries to sister. That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, to Agnes De Jardins, sister and legally appointed guardian of Mary Lynch, the sum of $10,000, for an injury sustained by her sister Mary, who, on October 4, 1918, resided at Morgan Beach, New Jersey, and who. as a result of an explosion of trinitrotoluol that occurred in the ordnance depot at Morgan, New Jersey, was so frightened and shocked by the explosion and concussion, and the exposure to the elements immediately thereafter that she lost her reason and has since been confined in insane asylums: *Provided*, That*Provisos*.Limitation on attorney’s fees. no part of the amount of any item appropriated in this bill in excess of $500 shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or agents, attorney or attorneys, on account of services rendered or advances made in connection with said claim: *Provided*, That itCollecting greater amount unlawful. shall be unlawful for any agent or agents, attorney or attorneys, to exact, collect, withhold, or receive any sum or sums which in the aggregate exceed $500 on account of services rendered or advances made in connection with said claim, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding.
Any person violating the provisions of this ActPenalty for violation. shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved, July 3, 1926.
