CHAP. 775.— An Act To authorize disbursing officers of the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps to designate deputies.July 3, 1926.[[H. R. 5233](/us/bill/69/hr/5233).][[Public, No. 496](/us/pl/69/496).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,Disbursing officers, Army, Navy, and Marine Corps.Deputies may be designated by, to make disbursements as their agents, etc. That when, in the opinion of the Secretary of War or the Secretary of the Navy, the exigencies of the service so require, disbursing officers of the Army, Navy, and Marine Corps may, with the approval of the head of their executive department and the consent of their surety or sureties, if any, designate deputies for the purpose of having them make disbursements as their agents, sign checks drawn against their disbursing accounts with the Treasurer of the United States, and discharge all other duties required according to law or regulation to be performed by such disbursingResponsibility of deputies. officers, and the agent officer shall be subject, for his official misconduct, to all liabilities and penalties prescribed by law in like cases for the officer for whom *Proviso*.Bond required.he acts as deputy: *Provided*, That every deputy so designated for a disbursing officer who is bonded shall, if not already under bond, give bond as required by the head of the department concerned.
