CHAP. 660.— An Act For the enlargement of the Capitol Grounds.June 23, 1926.[[S. 2005](/us/bill/69/s/2005).][[Public, No. 417](/us/69/pl/417).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,Capitol Grounds.Squares to be acquired for enlarging. That it is hereby declared to be the purpose of Congress to acquire all the lands, which have not been hitherto acquired, embraced within the squares numbered 632, 680, 681, 682, 683, 684, and 721 in the city of Washington, District of Columbia, for the enlargement of the Capitol Grounds; and the Vice President, the Speaker of the House ofManner of acquisition.
Representatives, and the Architect of the Capitol are hereby authorized and directed to acquire said premises by purchase, condemnation,Unexpended balance reappropriated. or otherwise; and the unexpended balances of appropriationsVol. 38 p. 44. heretofore made for the enlargement of the Capitol Grounds are 763hereby reappropriated for the above-named purpose, and such further sum as may be necessary is hereby authorized to be*Post*, p. 843. appropriated. The Vice President, the Speaker of the House of Representatives,Condemnation proceedings If necessary. and the Architect of the Capitol are authorized to institute condemnation proceedings, if necessary, in order to secure any or all of the land herein authorized to be acquired.
If such condemnationProcedure. proceedings are deemed necessary, they shall be in accordance with the provisions of the Act of Congress approved August 30,Vol. 26, p. 837. 1890, providing a site for the enlargement of the Government Printing Office (Statutes at Large, volume 26, chapter 837).
