CHAP. 461.— An Act For the relief of all owners of cargo laden aboard the lighter Linwood at the time of her collision with the United States steamship Absecon. June 3, 1926.[[S. 511](/us/bill/69/s/511).][[Private, No. 97](/us/pvtl//).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the claims“Linwood,” Lighter.Owners of certain cargo of, may bring suit for collision damages in district court. of all owners of various shipments of merchandise which were laden on board of the lighter Linwood, at the time hereinafter mentioned, against the United States of America, for damages alleged to have been caused by collision between the said vessel and the United States steamship Absecon on or about the 2M day of November, 1918, at or near the end of Pier 2, Bush Terminal Docks, Brooklyn, New York, may be sued for by the said owners of cargo in the District Court of the United States for the Southern District of New York,Jurisdiction of court. sitting as a court of admiralty and acting under the rules governing such court; and said court shall have jurisdiction to hear and determine such suits and to enter judgments or decrees for the amounts of such damages, and costs, if any, as shall be found to be due against the United States in favor of the owners of said cargo, or against the owners of said cargo in favor of the United States, upon the same principles and measures of liability as in like cases in admiralty between private parties, and with the same rights of appeal: *Provided*,*Provisos.*Notice to Attorney General.
That such notices of the suits shall be given to the Attorney General of the United States as may be provided by orders of the said court, and it shall be the duty of the Attorney Genera! to cause the United States attorney in such district to appear and defend for 1490Commencement of suit.the United States: *Provided further*, That said suits shall be brought and commenced within four months of the date of the passage of this Act.
