CHAP. 147.— An Act To amend section 71 of the Judicial Code as amended.April 16, 1926. [[H. R. 3932](/us/bill/69/hr/3832).] [[Public, No. 124](/us/pl/69/124).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,United States courts.Vol. 43, pp. 90, 948. That section 71 of the Judicial Code, as amended, be amended to read as follows: " “Sec. 71.
(a)The State of Arkansas is divided into two districts, to be known as the western and eastern districtsArkansas judicial districts. of Arkansas. “(b) The western district shall include four divisions constitutedWestern district. as follows: The Texarkana division, which shall include the territoryTexarkana division. embraced on July 1, 1920, in the counties of Sevier, Howard, Little River, Pike, Hempstead, Miller, Lafayette, and Nevada; the El Dorado division, which shall include the territory embraced onEl Dorado division. such date in the counties of Columbia, Ouachita, Union, Ashley, Bradley, and Calhoun; the Fort Smith division, which shall includeFort Smith division. the territory embraced on such date in the counties of Polk, Scott, Logan, Sebastian, Franklin, Crawford, Washington, Benton, and Johnson; the Harrison division, which shall include the territoryHarrison division. embraced on such date in the counties of Baxter, Boone, Carroll, Madison, Marion, Newton, and Searcy. “(c) Terms of the district court for the Texarkana division shallTerms. be held at Texarkana on the second Mondays in May and November for the El Dorado division at El Dorado on the fourth Mondays in January and June for the Fort Smith division at Fort Smith on the second Mondays in January and June and for the Harrison division at Harrison on the second Mondays in April and October. “(d) The clerk of the court for the western district shall maintainOffices of clerk. an office in charge of himself or a deputy at Texarkana, Fort Smith, El Dorado, and Harrison. Such offices shall be kept open at all times for the transaction of the business of the court. “(e) The eastern district shall include four divisions constitutedEastern district. as follows: The eastern division, which shall include the territoryEastern division. embraced on July 1, 1920, in the counties of Desha, Lee, Phillips, Saint Francis, Cross, Monroe, and Woodruff; the northern division,Northern division. which shall include the territory embraced on such date in the counties of Independence, Cleburne, Stone, Izard, Sharp, and Jackson; the Jonesboro division, which shall include the territory embracedJonesboro division.*Post*, p. 304. on such date in the counties of Crittenden, Clay, Craighead, Greene, Mississippi, Poinsett, Fulton, Randolph, and Lawrence; and the western division, which shall include the territory embraced on suchWestern division. date in the counties of Arkansas, Chicot, Clark, Cleveland, Conway, Dallas, Drew. Faulkner, Garland, Grant, Hot Spring, Jefferson, Lincoln, Lonoke, Montgomery, Perry, Pope, Prairie, Pulaski, Saline, Van Buren, White, and Yell. “(f) Terms of the district court for the eastern division shall beTerms. held at Helena on the second Monday in March and the first Monday 297in October: for the northern division, at Batesville on the fourth Monday in May and the second Monday in December; for the Jonesboro division, at Jonesboro on the first Monday in May and the fourth Monday in November; and for the western division, at Little Rock on the first Monday in April and the third Monday in October. “(g) The clerk of the court for the eastern district shall maintainOffices of clerk. an office in charge of himself or a deputy at Helena, Batesville, Jonesboro, and Little Rock. Such offices shall be kept open at all times for the transaction of the business of the court” " Sec. 2. The following Acts are hereby repealed:Acts repealed.
(a)The Act entitled “An Act to fix the time for the holding theVol. 38, p. 713. term of the district court in the Jonesboro division of the eastern district of Arkansas,” approved September 8, 1914; and
(b)The Act entitled “An Act to transfer certain counties in theVol. 38, p. 1103. several judicial districts in the State of Arkansas,” approved March 4, 1915. Approved, April 16, 1926.
