CHAP. 61.— An Act To grant the consent of Congress to construct, maintain, and operate a dam and spillway across the Waccamaw River, in North Carolina. March 18, 1924.[[H. R. 2818](/us/bill/68/hr/2818).][[Public, No. 48](/us/pl/68/48).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, * Waccamaw River.K. C. Council et al., may build, etc., dam across. That the consent of Congress is hereby granted to K. C. Council, F.
B. Gault, and Oscar High, or their legal representatives or assigns, to construct, Location.maintain, and operate a dam and spillway, together with the embankments necessary to its protection and operation, across the Waccamaw River, or in Waccamaw Lake, in North Carolina, at or near the outlet of said lake into said river and at a point suitable to the *Provisos*.Approval.interests of navigation: *Provided*, That the work shall not be commenced until the plans therefor have been submitted to and approved by the Chief of Engineers, United States Army, and by the SecretaryUse restricted. of War: *Provided further.* That this Act shall not be construed to authorize the use of said dam and spillway to develop 25water power or generate electricity: *Provided further*, That thereFishways required. shall be placed and maintained in connection with said dam and spillway such fishways as may be prescribed by the Secretary of Commerce.
Sec. 2. That this Act shall be null and void unless the actualTime for construction. construction of the dam and spillway hereby authorized is commenced within two years and completed within four years from the date of the approval of this Act. Sec. 3. That the right to alter, amend, or repeal this Act is herebyAmendment. expressly reserved. Approved, March 18, 1924.
