CHAP. 490.— An Act For the relief of Jessie M. White. March 3, 1925.[[S. 827](/us/bill/68/s/827).][[Private, No. 217](/us/pvtl/68/217).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the Secretary Jessie M. White.Payment to, for personal injuries to husband.of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay to Jessie M. White, widow of Mark White, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the sum of $2,500, in compensation for injuries sustained in the discharge of his duties while employed in the Canal Zone, and which resulted in his death: *Provided*, That no part of the amount of any item appropriated in *Provisos*.Attorneys’, etc., fees restricted.this bill in excess of 10 per centum thereof shall be paid or delivered to or received by any agent or agents, attorney or attorneys, on account of services rendered or advances made in connection with said claim: *Provided*, That it shall be unlawful for any agent or agents, Exacting, etc., larger amount unlawful.attorney or attorneys to exact, collect, withhold, or receive any sum which in the aggregate exceeds 10 per centum of the amount of any item appropriated in this bill on account of services rendered or advances made in connection with said claim, any contract to the contrary notwithstanding.
Any person violating the provisions of Penalty for violation.this Act shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof shall be fined in any sum not exceeding $1,000. Approved, March 3, 1925.
