CHAP. 373.— Joint Resolution Authorizing the erection on public grounds in the city of Washington, District of Columbia, of an equestrian statue of General San Martin which the people of Argentina have presented to the United States. Res., No. 31](/us/68/pubres/31).] Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the Chief ofDistrict of Columbia.Statue of General San Martin may be erected on public grounds in.
Engineers, United States Army, be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to grant permission for the erection on public grounds of the United States in the city of Washington, District of Columbia, other than those of the Capitol, the Library of Congress, andLocations excepted. the White House, or the grounds south of the White House, a copy of the statue of General San Martin, by Dumont: *Provided*, That*Proviso*.Approval of Library Committee and Commission of Fine Arts. the site chosen and the design of the pedestal shall be approved by the Joint Committee on the Library and that the United States shall be put to no expense in or by the erection of the said memorial,No Government expense. and the said Chief of Engineers, United States Army, shall super-vise the work of erection of the said memorial.
