CHAP. 334.— An Act For the relief of the American Trust Company. March 4, 1923.[[H. R. 13205](/us/bill/67/hr/13205).][[Private, No. 269](/us/pvtl/67/269).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, American Trust Company, Charlotte, N. C.Redemption of lost certificates of indebtedness. That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to redeem United States Treasury certificates of indebtedness numbered 18462, 18463, 18464, and 18465, each in the denomination of $1,000, series TM4-1920, dated February 2, 1920, and maturing March 15, 1920, with interest at the rate of 412per centum per annum from February 2, 1920, to March 15, 1920, in favor of the American Trust Company, of Charlotte, North Carolina, or its assigns, without presentation of the said certificates, the certificates of indebtedness having been lost, *Provisos.*Condition.stolen, or destroyed: *Provided*, That the said certificates of indebtedness shall not have been previously presented for payment, and that no payment shall be made hereunder for any coupons which shall Idemnity bond to be filed.have been previously presented and paid: *And provided further*, That the said American Trust Company, of Charlotte, North Carolina, shall first file in the Treasury Department a bond in the penal sum of double the amount of the lost, stolen, or destroyed Treasury certificates of indebtedness and the interest payable thereon, in such form and with such surety or sureties as may be acceptable to the Secretary of the Treasury to indemnify and save harmless the United States from any loss on account of the lost, stolen, or destroyed certificates of indebtedness herein described.
