CHAP. 12.— An Act To authorize the Secretary of Commerce to convey to Augustus S. Peabody certain land in Galveston County, Texas. December 20, 1921. [[H. R. 3250](/us/bill/67/hr/3250).] [[Private, No. 18](/us/pvtl/67/18).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Augustus S. Peabody.Conveyance to, of abandoned lighthouse lands, in Texas City, Tex. That the Secretary of Commerce be, and he is hereby, authorized to convey by quitclaim deed to Augustus S.
Peabody, of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois, grantee of all rights, title, and interest of the Texas City Company, all the following described tracts or parcels of land in Galveston County, Texas, known, designated, and described as follows, to wit: Being a part of lot numbered nine, in block numbered forty-seven, first division of the town of Texas City, Galveston County, Texas, and beginning at the southwest corner of said lot numbered nine; thence north along the west line of said lot forty-seven feet to a corner; thence east at right angle twenty-five feet; thence south along the east line of said lot forty-seven feet; thence west with the south line of said lot twenty-five feet to the place of beginning.
Also that certain tract or parcel of land, being a square of fifteen feet, and being a part of Bay Street, in the town of Texas City, Galveston County, Texas, and beginning at a point sixty-two feet east of the east line of block nine, first division of said town of Texas City, and seventy-eight feet north of the southeast corner of said block nine; thence north fifteen feet; thence east fifteen feet; thence south fifteen feet; thence west fifteen feet to the place of beginning; all of which tracts or parcels of land were granted and conveyed to the United States by the Texas City Company in May, 1906, for the nominal consideration of $1 for each tract, and which land was to be used as site for beacons or ranges to mark the Texas City Channel; said tracts of land being no longer needed for the purposes for which they were conveyed, in view of the abandonment of said beacons 1575or ranges formerly established or intended for use upon such tracts: *Provided,* That such conveyance shall be made without expense*Proviso*.Expense of title papers, etc. to either party, except that the said Augustus S.
Peabody shall pay a consideration of $2 and such expenses as are incident to the preparation and recording of the necessary title papers for the purpose of obtaining title to the said tracts and sites upon which beacons or shore ranges were established. Approved, December 20, 1921.
