CHAP. 55.— An Act To amend an Act entitled “An Act making appropriations for the support of the Army for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1919,” approved July 9, 1918. January 24, 1920. [[H. R. 10331](/us/bill/66/hr/10331).] [[Public, No. 125](/us/pl/66/125).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, * Army medals of honor, etc.Vol. 40, p.871, amended. That so much of the Act entitled “An Act making appropriations for the support of the Army for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1919,” approved July 9, 1918, as constitutes the fifth section under the subheading “Medals of honor, distinguished-service crosses, and distinguished-service medals” 399(Fortieth Statutes at Large, page 871), be, and is hereby, amended so as to read as follows:
" “That no more than one medal of honor or one distinguished-serviceOnly one issue to a person. cross or one distinguished-service medal shall be issued to any one person; but for each succeeding deed or act sufficient to justifyBar, etc., for subsequent deed. the award of a medal of honor or a distinguished-service cross or a distinguished-service medal, respectively, the President may award a suitable bar or other suitable device, to be worn as he shall direct. And for each citation of an officer or enlisted man for gallantry inSilver star for citation in orders.Issuing authority extended. action, published in orders issued from the headquarters of a force commanded by, or which is the appropriate command of, a general officer, not warranting the award of a medal of honor or distinguished service cross, he shall be permitted to wear, as the President shall direct, a silver star three-sixteenths of an inch in diameter.
” " Sec. 2. Conflicting laws repealed. That all laws and parts of laws in conflict herewith are rescinded. Approved, January 24, 1920.
