CHAP. 232.— An Act For the relief of Edward A. Purdy, postmaster of the city of Minneapolis, Minnesota, for postage stamps, postal-savings stamps, war-savings stamps, war-tax revenue stamps, and cash from money orders stolen from the branch post office at Minneapolis, Minnesota, commonly known and described as the traffic station and located at numbers six hundred and twenty-one and six hundred and twenty-three First Avenue north, in said city. Purdy.Credit in postal accounts for funds stolen. That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to credit Edward A. Purdy, as postmaster of the said city, in the sum of $13,861.24, said sum being the amount of certain postage stamps, postal-savings stamps, war-savings stamps, war-tax revenue stamps, and cash, from the money order funds taken and stolen by unknown burglars, on or about 4 o’clock in the morning of the 23d day of October, 1918, from one of the branch post offices of the said city of Minneapolis, to wit:
That certain branch post office located at numbers six hundred and twenty-one and six hundred and twenty-three First Avenue north, in said city, and commonly known and described as the traffic station; and that the said Edward A. Purdy be, and ho is hereby, released from payment to the Treasury of the United States of the said sum of $13,861.24 and every part thereof 1471as such postmaster, and that his account in connection with the aforesaid traffic station branch post office be credited with the said amount of $13,861.24 by reason of the aforesaid loss caused by the said burglars.
