CHAP. 191.— An Act To enlarge the boundaries of the Oregon National Forest. May 20, 1920. [[S. 2792](/us/bill/66/s/2792).] [[Public, No. 211](/us/pl/66/211).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* That the boundary of theOregon National Forest, Oreg.Area increased. Oregon National Forest, in the State of Oregon, is hereby changed to include the following lands, subject to all the laws and regulations governing the national forests:
Township one south, range six east,Description. section six; that part of township one north, range six east, lying south of the Columbia River not now included in said forest; township two north, range six east, all of sections thirty-four, thirty-five, and thirty-six south of the Columbia River: *Provided*, That this*Proviso*.No prior rights, etc., impaired. action shall, as to all lands which are at this date legally appropriated under the public-land laws or reserved for any public purpose, be subject to and shall not interfere with or defeat legal rights under such appropriation, nor prevent the use for such public purpose of lands so reserved so long as such appropriation is legally maintained or such reservation remains in force.
Sec. 2. That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he hereby is,Exchanges with private owners authorized. authorized and empowered, in his discretion, upon the recommendation of the Secretary of Agriculture, to exchange, upon the basis of equal value, nonmineral lands or timber belonging to the United States in the Oregon National Forest for privately owned lands lying within the exterior limits of the Oregon National Forest, and that upon the consummation of such exchanges the lands deeded to the United States shall become parts of the Oregon National Forest, and the Secretary of the Interior shall issue patents to the selected lands.
