CHAP. 46.— An Act To amend an Act entitled. “An Act providing for an Assistant Secretary of War,” approved March fifth, eighteen hundred and ninety, and for other purposes. April 6, 1918.[[H. R. 9352](/us/bill/65/hr/9352).][[Public, No. 122](/us/65/pl/122).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That an Act entitled “AnWar Department.Vol. 26, p. 17, amended.Three Assistant Secretaries authorized. Act providing for an Assistant Secretary of War,” approved March fifth, eighteen hundred and ninety (Twenty-sixth Statutes, page seventeen), be, and the same hereby is, amended to read as follows:
" “There shall be in the Department of War an Assistant Secretary, a Second Assistant Secretary, and a Third Assistant Secretary, each of whom shall be appointed by the President, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate. The Assistant Secretary shallCompensation. be entitled to a salary of $5,000 per annum, payable monthly, and the Second Assistant Secretary and Third Assistant Secretary shall each be entitled to a salary of $4,500 per annum, payable monthly, and shall perform such duties in the Department of War as shallDuties. be prescribed by the Secretary or as may be required by law.
