CHAP. 109.— Joint Resolution Authorizing the erection on the public grounds in the city of Washington, District of Columbia, of a statue of James Buchanan, a former President of the United States. Res., No. 32](/us/bill/65/pubres/32).] Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,James Buchanan.Memorial to former President permitted in Meridian Hill Park, Washington, D.
C. That the Chief of Engineers, United States Army, be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to grant permission to the trustees designated in the will of Mrs. Harriot Lane Johnston for the erection of a memorial to James Buchanan, a former President of the United States, on public grounds of the United States in the city of Washington, District of Columbia, in the southern portion of Meridian Hill Park, between Fifteenth, *Proviso*.Approval of Commission of Fine Arts, etc.Sixteenth, W, and Euclid Streets northwest: *Provided*, That the design and location of said memorial and the plan for the treatment of the grounds connected with its site shall be approved by the Commission of Fine Arts, and that the United States shall be put to no expense in or by the erection of said memorial.
