Chap. XXI.— An Act *for improving the harbour at the mouth of the river Raisin, in the territory of Michigan.* Feb. 24, 1835. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled*, That the sum of thirty thousand Appropriation for a new entrance into harbour at mouth of river Raisin.dollars be, and the same is hereby, appropriated out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the construction of a new entrance into the harbour, at or near the mouth of the river Raisin, where it unites with Lake Erie, according to a plan and survey of the said works, made under the direction of the War Department by Capt.
H. Smith, during the fall of the year eighteen hundred and thirty-four; Proviso.*Provided, however,* That no part of the sum hereby appropriated shall be expended for improving the channel of said river, but the expenditure hereby directed, shall be confined exclusively to the construction of a cut or passage from the lake to that part of the river which is to be used as a harbour for vessels.
