Chap. XLVI.— An Act *to continue the office of commissioner of pensions.* March 3, 1835. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Stales of America, in Congress assembled*, That the office of commissioner Office continued for two years.of pensions shall be, and the same is hereby, continued for the term of two years, from and alter the fourth day of March next, and no longer. Sec. 2. *And be it further enacted*, That a commissioner of pensions Commissioner to be appointed.shall be appointed by the President of the United States, by and with the advice and consent of the Senate, and that he shall execute, under the direction of the Secretary of War, such duties in relation to the various pension laws, as may be prescribed by the President.
Sec. 3. *And be it further enacted*, That the said commissioner shall Salary, and the franking privilege.receive an annual salary of twenty-five hundred dollars, and he shall also have the privilege of franking. Sec. 4. *And be it further enacted*, That the duties heretofore required Duties transferred from the Secretary of the Treasury to the Secretary of War. 1828, ch. 53.of, and performed by the Secretary of the Treasury, under the provisions of the act approved on the fifteenth of May, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-eight, granting allowances to the officers and soldiers of the revolutionary army, and in relation to Virginia claims for revolutionary services and deficiency of commutation, be and the same are hereby transferred to, and made the duties of the Secretary of War, from and after the first day of June next.
