Chap. XIV.— An Act *to authorize surveyors, under the direction of the Secretary of the Treasury, to enrol and license ships or vessels to be employed in the coasting trade and fisheries.*(*a*)(*a*) Notes of acts relating to the coasting trade, vol. iii. p. 492. Feb. 11, 1830. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, * Secretary of the Treasury That, after the passage of this TWENTY-FIRST CONGRESS. Sess.
I. Ch. 25, 26. 1830. 373 act, the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, invested withauthorized to empower surveyors of ports of delivery to enrol and license coasting and fishing vessels, &c. powers to authorize the surveyor of any port of delivery, under such regulations as he shall deem necessary, to enrol and license ships or vessels to be employed in the coasting trade and fisheries, in like manner as collectors of ports of entry are now authorized to do, under existing laws.
Sec. 2. *And be it further enacted, *That any surveyor who shall performSurveyors thus empowered, entitled to same fees, &c. as collectors. the duties directed to be performed by the first section of this act, shall be entitled to receive the same commissions and fees, as are now allowed by law to collectors for performing the same duties, and no more.
