Chap. XCV.— An Act malting appropriations for the purchase of books, and for other purposes. May 24, 1828. [Obsolete.] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, * 5000 dollars appropriated for the purchase of books for the library of Congress. That the sum of five thousand dollars be, and the same hereby is appropriated, to be paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, for the purchase of books for the library of Congress.
Sec. 2. *And be it further enacted, *That the librarian of CongressLibrarian authorized to employ an assistant. be authorized to employ an assistant, who shall receive a yearly compensation of eight hundred dollars, commencing March fourth, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-seven; to be paid out of any money in the treasury not otherwise appropriated.
