Chap. XCIX.— An Act for the benefit of the city of Washington.June 28, 1834. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United Appropriation to extinguish interest on public debt of Washington city. States of America, in Congress assembled,* That the Secretary of the Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized to pay, out of any unappropriated money in the treasury, a sum not exceeding seventy thousand dollars, in quarterly instalments, for one year from the passage of this act, to the mayor of the city of Washington, to be applied under the direction and authority of the boards of aldermen and common council, to extinguish so much of the interest annually accruing on their public debt.
