Chap. CXIX.— An Act *to authorize the licensing of vessels to be employed in the mackerel fishery.*(*a*)(*a*) See notes of the acts of Congress in relation to ships and vessels, and persons employed in the fisheries, vol. iii. 49—and notes of the decisions of the Courts of the United States on the acts relating to the fisheries, vol. iii. 49. May 24, 1828. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America, in Congress assembled, * Duty of collectors after the passage of this act.
That, from and after the passage of this act, it shall be the duty of the collector of the district to which any vessel may belong, on an application for that purpose by the master or owner thereof, to issue a license for carrying on the mackerel fishery, Act of Feb. 18, 1793, ch. 8.to such vessel, in the form prescribed by the act, entitled “An act for enrolling and licensing ships or vessels to be employed in the coasting trade and fisheries, and for regulating the same,” passed the eighteenth Proviso.day of February, one thousand seven hundred and ninety-three: *Provided,* That all the provisions of said act, respecting the licensing of ships or vessels for the coasting trade and fisheries, shall be deemed and taken to be applicable to licenses and to vessels licensed for carrying on the mackerel fishery.
