CHAP. 431.— An Act Granting pensions and increase of pensions to certain soldiers and sailors of the Civil War and certain widows and dependent children of soldiers and sailors of said war. August 31, 1916.[[H. R. 16290](/us/bill/64/hr/16290).][[Private, No. 146](/us/pl/64/146).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Pensions. That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws— Pensions increased.
Kate M. Bailey. The name of Kate M. Bailey, widow of Eli Bailey, late of Company K, Thirteenth Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of $24 per month in lieu of that she is now receiving. 1425 The name of James C. Vance, late of Company E, Thirteenth Regiment James C. Vance. Kentucky Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of $36 per month in lieu of that he is now receiving. The name of Clayborn Clements, late of Company B, Twentieth Clayborn Clements.
Regiment, and Company E, Fourteenth Regiment, Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of $40 per month in lieu of that lie is now receiving. The name of Philip W. Brown, late of Company D, Seventeenth Philip W. Brown. Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of $30 per month in lieu of that he is now receiving. The name of Clark Sturdevant, late of Company E, Twenty-seventh Clark Sturdevant. Regiment New York Volunteer Infantry, and pay him a pension at the rate of $30 per month in lieu of that he is now receiving.

H, Twenty-fourth Regiment Indiana Volunteer Infantry, and pay her a pension at the rate of $24 per month in lieu of that she is now receiving: *Provided*, That in the event of the death of Elliot R. *Provisos*. Increase to cease on death of child. Pension to child on death of mother. Lett, helpless and dependent child of said Sylvester D. Lett, the additional pension herein granted shall cease and determine: *And provided further*, That in the event of the death of Emily Lett, the name of said Elliot R.
Lett shall be placed on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, at the rate of $12 per month from and after the date of death of said Emily Lett.
