CHAP. 365.— An Act Authorizing the county of Gunnison, Colorado, to purchase certain public lands for public park purposes. August 21, 1916[[H. R. 20](/us/bill/64/hr/20)][[Public, No. 220](/us/pl/64/220)] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* Public lands.Granted to Gunnison County, Colo., for public park. That the county of Gunnison, Colorado, is hereby authorized for a period of five years from and after the passage of this Act, to purchase, and the Secretary of the Interior is hereby directed to convey to said county for public park purposes, for the use and benefit of said county, the following Description.described lands, or so much thereof as the said county may desire, to wit:
The southeast quarter of southwest quarter, section eleven, the east half of the northwest quarter, the southwest quarter, and the southwest quarter of the southeast quarter of section fourteen; the west half of the northeast quarter, the northwest quarter, the northeast quarter of the southeast quarter, the west half of the southeast quarter, and the southwest quarter of section twenty-three; and the southeast quarter of the northeast quarter, the northeast quarter of the southeast quarter and west half of the southeast quarter of section twenty-two, all in township forty-eight north, range five west, New Mexico principal meridian, in Gunnison County, containing one thousand acres, more or less.
Sec. 2. Payment. That the said conveyance shall be made of the said lands to the said county by the Secretary of the Interior upon the payment by said county for the said land or such portions thereof as they may select, at the rate of $1.25 per acre, and patent issued to said county for the said land selected to have and to hold for public park purposes, Prior rights not affected.but the grant hereby made shall not include any lands which at the 521date of the issuance of patent shall be covered by a valid, existing, bona fide right or claim initiated under the laws of the United States: *Provided*, That there shall be reserved to the United States all oil,*Provisos*.Oil, etc., deposits reserved. coal, and other mineral deposits that may be found in the land so granted, and all necessary use of the land for extracting the same: *And provided further*, That said county shall not have the right toUse restricted. sell or convey the land herein granted, or any part thereof, or to devote the same to any other purpose than as hereinbefore described; and that if the said land shall not be used as a public park, the same,Reversion. or such parts thereof not so used, shall revert to the United States.
