CHAP. 248.— An Act To amend section ninety-nine of the Act to codify, revise, and amend the laws relating to the judiciary. July 17, 1916[[H. R. 11878](/us/bill/64/hr/11878)][[Public, No. 161](/us/pl/64/161)] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* United States courts.Vol. 36, p. 1121.Vol. 37, p. 60, amended. That section ninety-nine of the Act to codify, revise, and amend the laws relating to the judiciary, be amended to read as follows:
" “Sec. 99. North Dakota judicial district.Southwestern division. That the State of North Dakota shall constitute one judicial district, to be known as the district of North Dakota. The territory embraced on the first day of January, nineteen hundred and sixteen, in the counties of Burleigh, Logan, McIntosh, Emmons, Kidder, McLean, Adams, Bowman, Dunn, Hettinger, Morton, Stark, Golden Valley, Slope, Sioux, Oliver, Mercer, Billings, and McKenzie Southeastern division.shall constitute the southwestern division of said district; and the territory embraced on the date last mentioned in the counties of Cass, Richland, Barnes, Sargent, Ransom, and Steele shall constitute Northeastern division.the southeastern division; and the territory embraced on the date last mentioned in the counties of Grand Forks, Traill, Walsh, Pembina, Northwestern division.Cavalier, and Nelson shall constitute the northeastern; and the territory embraced on the date last mentioned in the counties of Ramsey, Benson, Towner, Rolette, Bottineau, Pierce, and McHenry shall constitute the northwestern division; and the territory embraced Western division.on the date last mentioned in the counties of Ward, Williams, Divide, Mountrail, Burke, and Renville shall constitute the western Central division.division; and the territory embraced on the date last mentioned in the counties of Griggs, Foster, Eddy, Wells, Sheridan, Stutsman, Lamoure, and Dickey shall constitute the central division.
The several Indian reservations and parts thereof within said State shall constitute a part of the several divisions within which they are Terms.respectively situated. Terms of the district court for the southwestern division shall be held at Bismarck on the first Tuesday in March; for the southeastern division, at Fargo on the third Tuesday in May; for the northeastern division, at Grand Forks, on the second Tuesday in November; for the northwestern division, at Devils Lake on the first Tuesday in July; for the western division, at Minot on the second Tuesday in October; and for the central division, at Offices.Jamestown on the second Tuesday in April.
The clerk of the court shall maintain an office in charge of himself or a deputy at each place *Proviso*.No expense for rent, etc.at which court is held in his district: *Provided*, That the Government of the United States shall incur no expense for rent, light, heat, water, or janitor service for the building in which court shall be held until such time as the Government may erect its own court room.” " Approved, July 17, 1916.
