CHAP. 242.— Joint Resolution Permitting the use of certain hospital facilities belonging to the United States. July 11, 1916[[H. J. Res. 257](href=/us/bill/64/hjres/257)][[Pub. Res., No. 24](/us/bill/64/pubres/24)] *Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* That until November first,Ellis Island immigrant station, N. Y.Use of hospital facilities by New York allowed. nineteen hundred and sixteen, the Secretary of Labor be, and he is hereby, authorized, in his discretion, to utilize the available hospital facilities at the immigration station at Ellis Island, New York Harbor, for the purpose of housing and caring for indisposed persons from the city of New York and vicinity, under such conditions as the Secretary of Labor shall prescribe, but without expense to the Government of the United States; and the State or city of New York, or both, shall compensate the Government of the United States for any and all losses sustained by the Government in the use and occupation of such buildings.
