CHAP. 74.— An Act To abolish the office of receiver of public moneys at Springfield, Missouri, and for other purposes. May 2, 1914. [[S. 3403](/us/bill/63/s/3403).] [[Public, No. 93](/us/pl/63/93).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the office of receiver ofPublic lands. Receiver at Springfield, Mo., abolished. public moneys at Springfield, Missouri, shall, ten days from and after the passage and approval of this Act, be abolished and cease to exist; and that all the powers, duties, obligations, and penalties at that time lawfully imposed upon such receiver, and upon the register of the land office at Springfield, Missouri, shall, from and after that date, be exercised by and imposed upon such register; and such register shall, inDuties added to register. addition to the duties thus imposed, have charge of and attend to the sale of public lands within the State of Missouri, as provided by law and official regulation, and shall be accountable under his official bond for the proceeds of such sales, and for all fees, commissions, and other moneys received by him under any provision of law or official 372*Proviso.* Accounting of fees, etc.regulation: *Provided*, That all the fees and commissions now allowed by law to both such register and such receiver shall, ten days after the passage and approval of this Act, be paid to and accounted for by such register in the same manner and in like amounts in which they are now required to be paid to and accounted for by such receiver, but the salary, fees, and commissions of such register shall not exceed $3,000 per annum.
Sec. 2. Custody of records, etc. That all official and public books, papers, plats, records, and property of every description found and remaining in the said land office ten days from and after the approval of this Act shall be delivered to the register of the said office, who shall become the custodian of the same, under the direction of the Commissioner of the General Land Office.
