CHAP. 48.— An Act To appropriate $5,000 to erect a suitable monument on the battle grounds at the Horse Shoe, on the Tallapoosa River, in the State of Alabama. April 2, 1914.[[H. R. 9671](/us/bill/63/hr/9671).][[Public, No. 79](/us/pl/63/79).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the Secretary of WarHorse Shoe Battle Grounds, Ala.Appropriation for monument on.*Post*, p. 636. be, and he is hereby, authorized to cause to be erected on the Horse Shoe Battle Ground on the Tallapoosa River, in the State of Alabama, a memorial to the men who fought in that battle under the command of General Andrew Jackson, at a cost not to exceed $5,000, which sum is hereby authorized to be appropriated out of any money in the Treasury of the United States not otherwise appropriated: *Provided*, That no part of this appropriation shall be used for the*Proviso.*Restriction. purchase of any land in connection with the construction of the proposed monument.
Sec. 2. That the sole charge for the care and maintenance of theMaintenance. said memorial shall be borne by the State of Alabama, or by some other authority designated by the governor of the State of Alabama. Sec. 3. That the design for said memorial shall be subject to theApproval of design. approval of the Commission of Fine Arts. Approved, April 2, 1914.
