CHAP. 220.— An Act For the relief of the Virginia Military Institute, of Lexington, Virginia.March 4, 1915.[[S. 544](/us/bill/63/s/544).][[Private, No. 254](/us/pvtl/63/254).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the Secretary of the Virginia Military Institute.Payment to.Treasury be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to pay to the Virginia Military Institute, of Lexington, Virginia, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated the sum of $100,000, in full of all claims of said institute for the damage and destruction of its library, scientific apparatus, and the quarters of its professors in June, eighteen hundred and sixty-four, by the military authority of the United States.
And the acceptance of the said sum by the said institute shall be a complete and absolute bar to any and all claims for the damage and destruction of the property of said institute by the armies of the United States. Approved, March 4, 1915.
