CHAP. 306.— An Act To amend section one hundred and seven of the Act entitled “An Act to codify, revise, and amend the laws relating to the judiciary,” approved March third, nineteen hundred and eleven.August 20, 1912.[[H. R. 25520](/us/bill//hr/).][[Public, No. 273](/us/pl/62/273).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*,UnitedStatescourts.Vol. 36. p. 1124, amended. That section one hundred and seven of an Act entitled “An Act to codify, revise, and amend the laws relating to the judiciary,” approved March third, nineteen hundred and eleven, be, and the same is hereby, amended so as to read as follows:
" “Sec. 107. Tennessee judicial districts.The State of Tennessee is divided into three districts, to be known as the eastern, middle, and western districts of Tennessee. Eastern district.Southern division.The eastern district shall include the territory embraced on the first day of July, nineteen hundred and ten, in the counties of Bledsoe, Bradley, Hamilton, James, McMinn, Marion, Meigs, Polk, Rhea, and Northern division.Sequatchie, which shall constitute the southern division of said district; also the territory embraced on the date last mentioned in the counties of Anderson, Blount, Campbell, Claiborne, Grainger, Jefferson, Knox, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Sevier, Scott, and Northeastern division.Union, which shall constitute the northern division of said district; also the territory embraced on the date last mentioned in the counties of Carter, Cocke, Greene, Hamblen, Hancock, Hawkins, Johnson, Sullivan, Unicoi, and Washington, which shall constitute the Terms.northeastern division of said district.
Terms of the district court for the southern division of said district shall be held at Chattanooga on the fourth Monday in April and the second Monday in November; for the northern division, at Knoxville on the fourth Monday in May and the first Monday in December; and for the northeastern division, at Greeneville on the first Monday in March and the third Monday in Middle district.Nashville division.September. The middle district shall include the territory embraced on the first day of July, nineteen hundred and ten, in the counties of Bedford, Cannon, Cheatham, Coffee, Davidson, Dickson, Franklin, Giles, Grandy, Hickman, Humphreys, Houston, Lawrence, Lewis, Lincoln, Marshall, Maury, Montgomery, Moore, Robertson, Rutherford Stewart, Sumner, Trousdale, Warren, Wayne, Williamson, and Wilson, which shall constitute the Nashville division of said district;
Northeastern division.also the territory embraced on the date last mentioned in the counties of Clay, Cumberland, Dekalb, Fentress, Jackson, Macon, Overton, Pickett, Putnam, Smith, Van Buren, and White, which shall Terms.constitute the northeastern division of said district. Terms of the district court for the Nashville division of said district shall be held at Nashville on the second Monday in March and the fourth Monday in September; and for the northeastern division, at Cookeville on the third *Proviso*.Rooms at Cookeville.Monday in April and the first Monday in November: *Provided*, That suitable accommodations for holding court at Cookeville shall be provided by the county or municipal authorities without expense to the Western district.Western division.United States.
The western district shall include the territory embraced on the first day of July, nineteen hundred and ten, in the counties of Dyer, Fayette, Haywood, Lauderdale, Shelby, and Tipton, Eastern division.which shall constitute the western division of said district; also the territory embraced on the date last mentioned in the counties of Benton, Carroll, Chester, Crockett, Decatur, Gibson, Hardeman, Hardin, Henderson, Henry, Lake, McNairy, Madison, Obion, Perry, and Weakley, including the waters of the Tennessee River to low water mark on the eastern shore thereof wherever such river forms the boundary line between the western and middle districts of Tennessee, from the north line of the State of Alabama north to the point in Henry County, Tennessee, where the south boundary line of the Terms.State of Kentucky strikes the east bank of the river, which shall constitute the eastern division of said district.
Terms of the district court for the western division of said district shall be held at Memphis315 on the fourth Mondays in May and November; and for the eastern division, at Jackson on the fourth Mondays in April and October.Offices. The clerk of the court for the western district shall appoint a deputy, who shall reside at Jackson. The marshal for the western district shall appoint a deputy, who shall reside at Jackson. The marshal for the eastern district shall appoint a deputy, who shall reside at Chattanooga.
The clerk of the court for the eastern district shall maintain an office in charge of himself or a deputy at Knoxville, at Chattanooga, and at Greeneville, which shall be kept open at all times for the transaction of the business of the court." Approved, August 20, 1912.
