CHAP. 393.— An Act For the relief of soldiers and sailors who enlisted or served under assumed names, while minors or otherwise, in the army or navy, during the war of the rebellion, the war with Spain, or the Philippine insurrection. June 25, 1910.[[H. R. 4301](/us/bill/61/hr/4301).][[Public, No. 275](/us/pl/61/275).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Army and Navy. Discharge certificates. That the Act entitled “An Act for the relief of soldiers and sailors who enlisted or served under assumed names, while minors or otherwise, in the army or navy, Vol. 26, p. 55, amended. during the war of the rebellion,” approved April fourteenth, eighteen hundred and ninety, be, and the same is hereby, amended to read as follows:
Issued in true name, to persons serving as minors under assumed. That the Secretary of War and the Secretary of the Navy be, and they are hereby, authorized and required to issue certificates of discharge or orders of acceptance of resignation, upon application and proof of identity, in the true name of such persons as enlisted or served under assumed names, while minors or otherwise, in the army War with Spain and in Philippines added. and navy during the war of the rebellion, the war with Spain, or the Philippine insurrection, and were honorably discharged therefrom.
Applications for said certificates of discharge or amended orders of acceptance of resignation may be made by, or on behalf of, persons Restriction. entitled to them; but no such certificate or order shall be issued where a name was assumed to cover a crime or to avoid its consequence. 825 Sec. 2. That the title of said act be amended so as to read as follows: Title amended. “An Act for the relief of soldiers and sailors who enlisted or served under assumed names, while minors or otherwise, in the army or navy, during the war of the rebellion, the war with Spain, or the Philippine insurrection.
