CHAP. 227.— AN ACT Making appropriations for the payment of invalid and other pensions of the United States for the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and twelve, and for other purposes. March 3, 1911.[[H. R. 29157](/us/bill/36/hr/29157).][[Public, No. 471](/us/bill/36/pl/471).] 1085 *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the following sums be, and the same are hereby, appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, Pensions appropriations.for the payment of pensions for the fiscal year ending June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and twelve, and for other purposes, namely:
For Army and Navy pensions, as follows: Invalid, etc., pensions.For invalids, widows, minor children, and dependent relatives, Army nurses, and all other pensioners who are now borne on the rolls, or who may hereafter be placed thereon, under the provisions of any and all Acts of Congress, one hundred and fifty-three million dollars: *Provided,**Provisos.*That the appropriation aforesaid for Navy pensions shall be paid from the income of the Navy pension fund,Navy pensions.so far as the same shall be sufficient for that purpose: *Provided further,* That the amount expended under each of the above items shall be accounted Accounts.for separately.
For fees and expenses of examining surgeons,Examining surgeons.pensions, for services rendered Fees.within the fiscal year nineteen hundred and twelve, two hundred thousand dollars. For salaries of agentsAgents’ salaries.for the payment of pensions, at four thousand dollars each, seventy-two thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary. For clerk hire, Clerk hire.and other services, pension agencies, three hundred and eighty-five thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary: *Provided,**Proviso.*That the amount of clerk hire, and other services, and the salaries paid shall be subject to the approval of the Secretary Approval of Secretary.of the Interior.
For stationeryStationery.and other necessary expenses, twenty-five thousand dollars. The Commissioner of PensionsSimplifying accounts.is directed to formulate and embrace in his next annual report a simplified plan Plan to be reported.for the payment of pensions 1086whereby all preliminary vouchers shall be abolished and the only vouchers required shall be attached to or a part of the payment checks and the Commissioner shall further report what, if any, changes in the law are necessary to carry such plan into effect.
