CHAP. 71.— An Act To amend an Act to amend section four of an Act entitled “An Act relating to the Metropolitan police of the District of Columbia,” approved February twenty-eighth, nineteen hundred and one. March 9, 1908.[[S. 2872.]](/us/bill/70/s/2072)[[Public, No. 44](/us/pl/70/44).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the Act of CongressDistrict of Columbia.Fire department. approved March first, nineteen hundred and five, entitled “An Act to amend section four of an Act entitled ‘An Act relating to thePensions extended.Vol. 33, p. 822.Vol. 34, p. 1003.
Metropolitan police of the District of Columbia,’” is hereby amended by extending its provisions in behalf of the chief engineer of the fire department, and all other officers of said department of and above the rank of captain, to any chief engineer of the fire department and all other officers of said department of and above the rank of foreman, who were retired and pensioned in pursuance of law prior to the approval of said Act: *Provided*, That when retired the present chief*Proviso*.Present chief engineer. engineer of the tire department of the District of Columbia shall receive as retired pay a sum equal to one-half of the salary allowed by law at date of retirement.
