CHAP. 65.— An Act To impose a tax upon alcoholic compounds coming from Porto Rico, and for other purposes. February 4, 1909.[[H.R. 22884](/us/bill/70/hr/22884).][[Public, No. 206](/us/pl/70/206).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That upon bay rum, or anyPorto Rico.Internal-revenue tax on. alcoholic compounds from. article containing alcohol, hereafter brought from Porto Rico into the United States for consumption or sale there shall be paid a tax on the spirits contained therein of one dollar and ten cents per proof gallon, to be collected at the port of entry by the collector of internal revenueRegulations. of the district in which the port is located.
The Commissioner of Internal Revenue, with the approval of the Secretary of the Treasury, is hereby authorized to make such rules and regulations as may be necessary to carry this Act into effect. Approved, February 4, 1909.
