CHAP. 219.— An Act To extend the time within which the Washington and Western Maryland Railroad Company shall be required to complete the road of said company under the provisions of an Act of Congress approved March second, eighteen hundred and eighty-nine, as amended by an Act of Congress approved June twenty-eighth, nineteen hundred and six. May 29, 1908.[[S. 2295.]](/us/bill/70/s/2295)[[Public, No. 159.]](/us/pl/70/159) *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the time within whichDistrict of Columbia.Washington and Western Maryland Railroad Company.Vol. 25, p.876.Time of construction extended.Vol. 34. p. 536, amended. the Washington and Western Maryland Railroad Company is required to complete and put in operation its railroad in the District of Columbia under the provisions of an Act of Congress approved March second, eighteen hundred and eighty-nine, as amended by an Act of Congress approved June twenty-eighth, nineteen hundred and six. be. and the same is hereby, extended for the term of eighteen months from the twenty-eighth day of December, nineteen hundred and seven, and all of the franchises, rights, and powers conferred by said Acts, or either of them, upon said railroad company, may be enjoyed and exercised as fully and completely as if said railroad had been completed and put in operation prior to the twenty-eighth day of December, anno Domini nineteen hundred and seven: *Provided*, That within one*Proviso.*Deposit. month after the approval of this Act the said Washington and Western Maryland Railroad Company shall deposit with the collector of taxes of the District of Columbia the sum of two thousand dollars to guarantee the construction of said railroad within the time herein extended.
If this sum is not so deposited this Act shall be void; if thisForfeiture. sum is deposited and the said railroad company shall fail to construct and have in operation the said railroad, within the time herein prescribed, the said sum shall be forfeited to the District of Columbia and this Act shall be void.465 Approved, May 29, 1908.
