CHAP. 142.— An Act To authorize the Secretary of War to make certain disposition of obsolete Springfield rifles, caliber forty-five, bayonets and bayonet scabbards for same. April 11, 1908.[[H. R. 4780](/us/bill/70/hr/4780).][[Public, No. 94.](/us/pl/70/94)] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the Secretary of WarColumbus, Ohio.Obsolete rifles, etc., donated to The Old Guard of. is hereby authorized, in his discretion, to donate to The Old Guard, an independent military organization of Columbus, Ohio, whose membership is composed entirely of Union soldiers of the war of the rebellion, such number of obsolete Springfield rifles, caliber forty-five, bayonets and bayonet scabbards for same, not to exceed one hundred, which may not be needed in the service of said Department.
SuchNo expense. donation shall be made subject to rules and regulations covering the same in the Department, and the Government shall be at no expense in connection with any such donation. Approved, April 11, 1908.
