CHAP. 991.— An Act To amend section forty-four hundred and forty-six of the Revised Statutes, relating to licensed masters, mates, engineers, and pilots. February 19, 1907. [[H. R. 21204](/us/bill/59/hr/21204).] [[Public, No. 95](/us/pl/59/95).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That section forty-four Steam vessels.[R. S., sec. 4446, p. 861](/us/rs/s4446/p861).hundred and forty-six of the Revised Statutes, as the same is now in force and effect, he, and the same is hereby, amended so as to read as follows:
" “Sec. 4446. Every master, mate, engineer, and pilot who shall License to be exhibited.[R. S., sec. 4446, p. 861, amended](/us/rs/s4446/p861).receive a license shall, when employed upon any vessel, within forty-eight hours after going on duty, place his certificate of license, which shall be framed under glass, in some conspicuous place in such vessel, where it can be seen by passengers and others at all times : *Provided*, *Proviso.*Temporary transfer to another vessel.That in case of emergency such officer may be transferred to another vessel of the same owners for a period not exceeding forty-eight hours without the transfer of his license to such other vessel: and for every Penalty for violation.neglect to comply with this provision by any such master, mate, engineer, or pilot, he shall be subject to a tine of one hundred dollars, or to the revocation of his license.
