CHAP. 3059.— An Act For the erection of a monument to the memory of John Paul Jones. June 8, 1906. [[S. 685](/us/bill/34/s/685).] [[Public, No. 208](/us/pl/34/208).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, John Paul Jones. That there shall be erected in the city of Washington. District of Columbia, a statue to the memory Appropriation for erecting statue to memory of, in Washington, D. C.of John Paul Jones; and for the purpose of procuring and erecting said statue, with a suitable pedestal, and for the preparation of a site, the sum of fifty thousand dollars, or so much thereof as may be necessary, is hereby appropriated, out of any money in the Treasury not otherwise appropriated, the same to be expended under the direction Commission to select, etc.of a commission to be composed of the Secretary of War, the Secretary of the Navy, the chairman of the Committee on the Library of the Senate, and the chairman of the Committee on the Library of the House of Representatives.
Sec. 2. Site.That the commission herein created is empowered to select a site for the statue authorized by this Act on ground belonging to the *Proviso*.Restriction.Government: *Provided,* That said statue shall not be located in the grounds of the Capitol or Library of Congress.
