CHAP. 2582.— An Act To appoint Joseph Y. Porter a lieutenant-colonel and deputy surgeon general, and to place him on the retired list of the Army. March 2, 1907. [[S. 5365](/us/bill/34/s/5365).] [[Public, No. 241](/us/pl/34/241).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the President be, andArmy.Joseph Y. Porter may be appointed deputy surgeon-general and retired. he is hereby, authorized to appoint, by and with the consent of the Senate, Joseph Y.
Porter, late a captain and assistant surgeon of the United States Army, to the position of lieutenant-colonel and deputy surgeon general, and to place him on the retired list of the Army without pay as of that rank, and the retired list is hereby increased for that purpose only: *Provided*, That no pay, bounty or other emoluments,*Proviso.*No pay, etc. either heretofore or hereafter, shall become due or payable by virtue of the passage of this Act.
