CHAP. 1351.— An Act To consolidate the city of South McAlester and the town of McAlester, in the Indian Territory. March 29, 1906. [[H. R. 12845](/us/bill/34/hr/12845).] [[Public, No. 72](/us/pl/34/72).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, That the act of consolidationIndian Territory.Consolidation of South McAlester and town of McAlester in, approved.City of McAlester created. adopted by the city of South McAlester and the town of McAlester, in the Indian Territory, is approved, and that the city of McAlester is hereby created a city of the first class in the Indian Territory, with legal succession to all public property now belonging to the incorporated city of South McAlester and the town of McAlester, and said city of McAlester shall have power to exercise municipal jurisdiction over the area of territory embraced in and platted as the town sites of South McAlester and McAlester by the Choctaw Town Site Commission, according to Act of June twenty-eighth, eighteen hundred andVol. 30. p. 500. ninety-eight, and subsequently.
Sec. 2. That all indebtedness due by either of said municipalities atIndebtedness assumed by new municipality. the date of passage of this bill shall become the debt of the city of McAlester. Sec. 3. That the present city government of the city of SouthMunicipal government. McAlester shall exercise all municipal powers over the city of McAlester created by this Act until their successors are elected and qualified in accordance with existing law, and that at the municipal election heldElection. on the first Tuesday in April, nineteen hundred and six, there shall beCity council increased. elected from the territory heretofore known as McAlester four additional members of the city council of the city of McAlester created by this Act.
