CHAP. 485.— An Act Raising the rank of Chief Engineer David Smith on the retired list of the Navy. February 5, 1903.[[Public, No. 60](/us/pl/57/60).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Chief Engineer David Smith.Advanced on naval retired list to next higher grade.That Chief Engineer David Smith, United States Navy, retired, who served with credit through both the civil and Spanish-American wars, and who, in the performance of duty, incurred disability from exposure, rendering him an invalid requiring the services of an attendant, ever since his detachment, February seventh, eighteen hundred and ninety-nine, be advanced on the retired list from March third, eighteen hundred and ninety-nine, to the next higher grade.
