CHAP. 273.— An Act For the acknowledgment of deeds and other instruments in the Philippine Islands and Porto Rico affecting land situate in the District of Columbia or any Territory of the United States. March 22, 1902.[[Public, No. 55](/us/pl/57/55).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* That deeds and other instruments Philippine Islands and Porto Rico. Deeds, etc., affecting lands in District of Columbia and Territories may be acknowledged before notaries in. *Proviso.* Certification of notary’s power.affecting land situate in the District of Columbia or any Territory of the United States may be acknowledged in the Philippine Islands and Porto Rico before any notary public appointed therein by proper authority or any officer “therein who has ex officio the powers of a notary public: *Provided,* That the certificate by such notary in the Philippine Islands or in Porto Rico, as the case may be, shall be accompanied by the certificate of the attorney-gene nil of Porto Rico or the governor or attorney-general of the Philippine Islands to the effect that the notary taking said acknowledgment was in fact the officer he purported to be.
