CHAP. 181.— An Act To amend section three of chapter four hundred and eighty, of the laws of the United States, approved June twenty-third, eighteen hundred and seventy-four. March 11, 1902.[[Public, No. 38](/us/pl/57/38).] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled,* That section three of chapter District of Columbia. Washington Gaslight Company. Vol. 18, p. 278.four hundred and eighty, of the laws of the United States, approved June twenty-third, eighteen hundred and seventy-four, be, and the same is hereby, amended so that it shall read as follows:
" “Sec. 3. That a laboratory shall be provided and fitted up by the Office hours of laboratory changed.Washington Gaslight Company, subject to the approval of the inspector, in the central part of the city of Washington, at a distance as near as may he of two thousand feet from any gas works, and furnished with suitable apparatus for the transaction of the business of the inspector and assistant inspector, for which it is intended; and the laboratory shall be kept open on all business days between the, hours of nine o’clock in the forenoon and four o’clock in the afternoon: *Provided,* *Proviso.* Expenses.That the cost of lifting up said laboratory shall be paid for by each gas company in the District of Columbia in proportion to their sale of gas for the year eighteen hundred and seventy-three.
