CHAP. 1289.— An Act Granting an increase of pension to Emily Lawrence Reed. March 3, 1903.[[Private, No. 1118](/us/pvtl/57/1118).] *Be it enacted by the Sen ate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Emily Lawrence Reed.Pension increased. That the Secretary of the Interior be, and he is hereby, authorized and directed to place on the pension roll, subject to the provisions and limitations of the pension laws, the name of Emily Lawrence Reed, widow of Walter Reed, late major and surgeon, United States Army, and pay her a pension at the rate of one hundred and twenty-five dollars per month in lieu of that she is now receiving, in special recognition of the eminent services of said Walter Reed in discovering the means of preventing as well as the cause and method of the transmission and propagation of yellow fever.
