CHAP. 1092.— An Act For relief of Stanley and Patterson, and to authorize a pay director of the United States Navy to issue a duplicate check. June 16, 1902.[[Private, No. 932](/us/pvtl/57/932).] Preamble.Whereas it appears that Henry M. Denniston, pay director in the United States Navy, did, on the fifth day of February, nineteen hundred and one, make and issue a check, numbered four hundred and fifty-six thousand seven hundred and fourteen, bearing date of the said fifth day of February, nineteen hundred and one, upon the assistant treasurer of the United States at New York, in favor of Stanley and Patterson, for the sum of two thousand six hundred and eighty dollars and twenty-one cents, being in payment for electrical supplies furnished the United States Navy Department; and Whereas said check was, on the said fifth day of February, nineteen hundred and one, mailed by the said Henry M.
Denniston to Stanley and Patterson, at thirty-two Frankfort street. New York City, New York, and was lost in transmission through the mails and has never been received by the said Stanley and Patterson; and Whereas the provision of the Act of February sixteenth, eighteen hundred and eighty-five, amending section thirty-six hundred and forty-six, Revised Statutes of the United States, authorizing United States disbursing officers and agents to issue duplicates of lost cheeks, apply checks drawn for two thousand five hundred dollars or less:
Therefore, *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled*, Stanley and Patterson.Duplicate check authorized. That said Henry M. Denniston. or his successor in office, be, and hereby is, instructed to issue a duplicate of said original check to Stanley and Patterson, under such regulations in regard to its issuing and payment as have been prescribed by the Secretary of the Treasury for the issuing of duplicate [R.
