CHAP. 71.— An Act To extend the time for the construction of the railway of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway Company through the Indian Territory. March 17, 1898. *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, * That the time for the constructionTime extended for construction of Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway.Vol. 27, p. 492. of that portion of the railway of the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway Company, a corporation organized and existing under and by virtue of the laws of the States of Illinois and Iowa, which said railway company, by virtue of an Act approved February twenty-seventh, eighteen hundred and ninety-three, entitled “An Act to grant 328 FIFTY-FIFTH CONGRESS.
Sess. II. Chs. 71, 72. 1898. to the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway Company right of way through the Indian Territory, and for other purposes,” was authorized to construct, shall be extended for a period of three years from the first day of April, eighteen hundred and ninety-eight, and for such purposes said railway company shall have the right to take and occupy the right *Provisos.*Construction within one year.of way and depot grounds heretofore granted to it by said Act: *Provided,* That said company shall build at least fifty miles of its railway in said Territory within one year after the passage of this Act: *And provided, further,*Stations.
That the right of way granted for stations be limited in length to two thousand feet for each station. Approved, March 17, 1898.
