Chap. XXXVI.— An Act authorizing the payment of a sum of money to the state of Georgia, under the articles of agreement and cession between the United States and that state.March 3, 1817. [Obsolete.] *Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United A sum to be paid to the state of Georgia equal to the amount of Mississippi stock received in payment of public lands in Mississippi territory, until, &c. States of America, in Congress assembled,* That there shall be paid 360FOURTEENTH CONGRESS.
Sess. II. Ch. 37, 38. 1817. to the state of Georgia, out of any moneys in the treasury not otherwise appropriated, a sum equal to the amount of Mississippi stock which has been or shall be received in payment of the public lands in the Mississippi territory, until the payment of one million two hundred and fifty thousand dollars, secured to the said state by the articles of agreement and cession between the United States and the state of Georgia shall be completed; and the money hereby appropriated shall be paid in the same manner as if the payments in the said Mississippi stock had been made in money: *Provided,* That the payments which shall be made in pursuance Proviso: amount of payments limited, and repayment to be made to the treasury before, &c. of this act shall not in the whole exceed three hundred and fifty thousand dollars, and the same shall be repaid to the treasury out of the net proceeds of the sale of public lands in the Mississippi territory before any of the moneys thence arising shall be paid for the redemption of the outstanding certificates of Mississippi stock.
